Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Mini Meet ("we", "us", or "the app") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application. By creating an account or using Mini Meet, you agree to the practices described below.

Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to make Mini Meet work:

Account information — your email address and a hashed password, used to sign you in.
Phone number — required for SMS verification to confirm you are a real person and reduce spam.
Profile information — display name, optional bio, optional profile photo, and the interests or items you choose to share.
Location data — your approximate device location, used to show you on the map and find other enthusiasts nearby. Location is only collected while the app is open and you have granted location permission.
Photos you upload — photos of items you choose to share appear on the map and in your profile.
Messages — the content of messages you send to other users, stored so that conversations persist across sessions.
Basic device and usage data — technical information such as device type, OS version, and crash logs to help us diagnose problems.

How We Use Your Information

To create and authenticate your account.
To verify your phone number via SMS.
To show your location and shared items on the map to other users in your area.
To deliver messages and meet-up requests between users.
To monitor app health, fix bugs, and improve features.
To respond to support requests you send us.

Third-Party Services

Mini Meet uses a small number of trusted third-party services to operate. These providers receive only the data needed to perform their function and are bound by their own privacy policies:

Firebase Authentication (Google) — manages email/password sign-in and SMS verification.
Apple Maps — renders the map view inside the app.
Replit — hosts our backend API and database.

What We Do Not Do

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
We do not show third-party advertising in the app.
We do not track you across other apps or websites.
We do not share your phone number with other users. Other users only see your display name, profile photo, items you choose to share, and your map location while you are visible.

Your Choices and Controls

Location: You can revoke location permission at any time through your device's Settings → Privacy → Location Services. You can also tap "Hide" inside the app to remove yourself from the map without revoking permission.
Profile and items: You can edit or remove anything you have shared from inside the "My Stuff" tab.
Messages: You can delete conversations from the Messages tab.
Account deletion: Open the app, tap your profile in the top-right of the Map tab, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, items, messages, blocks, reports, and all associated data immediately. If you cannot access the app, you can also email us from the address linked to your account with the subject "Delete My Account" and we will process the deletion within 7 days.
Block & report: Tap any user on the map (or open the chat menu) to block or report them. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours and abusive users are removed; blocked users are immediately hidden from each other on the map and in messages.

Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. When you request deletion, we remove your profile, items, messages, and location history within 7 days. Backups containing residual data are rotated out within 30 days.

Data Security

All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, never in plain text. We restrict access to user data to the small number of people who need it to operate the service.

Children's Privacy

Mini Meet is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please email us and we will remove the account.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you inside the app.
